  • Are fermented products good for our psychology as well as our gut health?

  • What does science tell us about this ancient tradition of processing food and drink?

  • Where will the latest research take us and what are the likely future trends?

Join us for a fascinating insight into some of the latest research on the health benefits of fermented food and drink. Hear from scientists, business and artisan producers, and sample a range of fermented food and drink products. Admission is free including lunch and refreshments but please register on our Eventbrite page by 12 April to secure your place.

Our Festival of Fermentation kicks off on Thursday evening 18 April with an informal reception and a free showing of the documentary film ‘Fermented’ at Aberystwyth Arts Centre cinema. Our full programme of activities runs between 09:30 and 15:30 on Friday 19 April, with a mix of talks, panel discussions and case studies as well as a kefir and sauerkraut-making demonstration and a chance to taste a few products.

There will also be a display area showcasing a range of fermented food and drink products from Wales alongside industry support stands and academic research projects which use fermentation processes. The language of most of the formal sessions will be English, with simultaneous translation for Welsh language presentations. We look forward to welcoming you!
